3-Week Yoga Retreat, Week 3, Day 3 – Balance

It’s been a few days since I did the last video, and I know it’s definitely time to make time because my lower back is hurting again! I had promised myself that I would make time to work out every day, but life kind of got in the way a little bit, with my son starting school last week and my daughter starting school yesterday, and all of us trying to adjust to the new schedule changes. I just haven’t been sure where to fit working out in and I’ve also felt pretty exhausted! I feel super tired tonight, too, because I just could NOT fall asleep last night, but I know it’s time to fit the workout in anyway because now my back is hurting. So… without further ado:

Before 3-week Yoga Retreat, Day 3 – Balance: It’s 8:38 p.m. I’m feeling really tired, and my back hurts. I’m a little headachy. I would love nothing more than to just go get a shower and sit on the couch until bedtime, but I know my body needs this. Time to jump back into the swing of things, even when I don’t really feel like doing it!

WORKOUT TOOLS:
1. Yoga mat. Yoga is really, really difficult to do without a mat because it’s much harder to stabilize yourself and hold the poses without one. If you don’t have one, I really recommend getting one.
2. Optional yoga block. This is handy to have if you aren’t flexible or have poor balance and could use the extra support. I don’t have one and it’s definitely not required.

After 3-week Yoga Retreat, Day 3 – Balance: I’m very glad I did that. My body feels a lot better overall. I’m really enjoying all of the videos for week 3 so far. I love the new stretches we’ve been doing, and we did a lot today to help open up the hips and stretch the back, which is exactly what I needed. We also did tree pose for a while, and boy did my calves burn, but I didn’t fall! So on top of feeling better, I feel like I got a good leg workout too.

I need to read these posts when I don’t feel like working out, because I’m always glad that I did!

Tomorrow’s video is “Flow,” and hopefully I will find the time to do it, since my kids will be here with me tomorrow. This is the last week in the 3-week program, and I’m excited to get started with… probably Cize next, but I definitely want to finish this program first. So check back tomorrow for my thoughts on Day 4’s video.
